About Me
I take what I do very seriously. When I look at a room full of people and see that they are engaged and learning, I feel truly alive. For that reason, I only teach on topics that I am passionate about. Each presentation is taken seriously, though I am not always serious. There is a power in humor as it applies to teaching and learning. Humor is a thread that runs through all of my work.
Over the past twelve years I have built a national reputation and acclaim for presentations, trainings, system change strategies, and online course development.
Prior to teaching I had spent twenty years in the direct service of people with disabilities, primarily those with psychiatric disabilities. I owe a great deal to the clients I have served. They taught me to think broadly, be attentive, creative and patient; all excellent skills for a teacher.
